What Is a 3-Digit ZIP Code Region?
Why ZIP3 regions are broad areas and how they differ from full ZIP codes.

The first three digits of a ZIP code
A 3-digit ZIP region uses the first three digits of a ZIP code. For example, ZIP code 33139 belongs to ZIP3 region 331.
That region can cover many ZIP5 codes, neighborhoods, and market segments, so it should be read as a broad regional geography.
Why this matters
Broad regions can make historical index coverage possible, but they reduce address-level precision.
This site therefore labels ZIP3 pages as regional index pages and avoids ZIP5 or property-specific claims.
